On Wednesday 7th May a team of eight of us, went to Norman Park to take part in the Bromley Schools Cycling Championships. Everyone took part in a heat, the first lap being a practice lap to get used to the course and the grass.
With the flag waving and many encouraging cheers the race began with Sonny dashing into first place and then second over the hill. He soon caught back up but looked tired and the rider behind him was catching up. Suddenly, loud cheers filled Norman Park as the cyclists raced towards the finish line. Metres from the line they were neck and neck but at the last moment Sonny gave it a final push and won!
Everyone else rode their heats with great determination, energy and stamina.
Sonny, Harry-Jack and Jess all qualified through to the major final with Jess coming a fine second out the girls. Joshua qualified through to the minor final.
The team finished an excellent third overall of the ten schools represented taking the bronze medal and a water bottle as well as a puncture repair kit!
