On Monday 2nd February, 12 pupils from WRPS were invited to see Chris Snode (Commonwealth and Olympian diving champion) for a diving lesson at crystal palace.
They started off by learning the basics of diving and tried a few on the side of the pool. There were a mixture of tuck jumps, pike jumps and summersaults (etc.)
Once they had finished, it came to the hard part, diving off the boards! There was a 1m, 3m, 5m, 7m, 7.5m and finally, a 10m. They had to begin from the 1m and perform a pencil die forwards and backwards. Later, they did the same on the 3m board.
But, we all know that it would hurt if you did a belly flop! So, at the bottom of the pool, there was a machine which produced bubbles to soften up the water.
Finally, they finished off by having a few minutes of free time. One of the children dared to go up to the 10m, but only looked down as it was beyond scary. It was a great day and the school is hoping to return to crystal palace, and possibly see Chris again.
