Reception – Born in a Barn
The story was told from the animal’s point of view and started with the animals finding Jesus in the barn. Parents provided the costumes for the children and a special drama teacher, Mrs Williams, who is a parent helper, helped organise the whole production. There were two performances, each lasting 35 minutes and Mrs Meckiff came along to one as well.
Years 1 and 2 – A Midwife Crisis
A non-traditional performance. A midwife received a telephone call saying a baby was been born, but after searching many places she unfortunately arrived late and baby Jesus had already been born! The children in Year 2 had the main parts with Year 1 classes singing the songs.
Year 3 – News from Bethlehem
Year 3’s show told the Christmas story through a news report. The reports told the effects unfurling in Bethlehem and had a news piece for when each group arrived. Channel 7 news provided the reporting.
Year 4 – The Magical Christmas Jigsaw
The nativity story told in a different way. 4 children fin various pieces of a jigsaw which each tell a part of the Christmas story. At the end of the performance all the pieces had been shown and a full nativity scene has gathered on the stage.
Years 5 and 6 – Carol Concert
The Carol Concert was performed at Christ Church with two performances on one day, once in the morning and again in the evening. It contained drama and poems between carols that had been written by the students. There was also a mix of traditional and non-traditional carols.
